At the 29th November launch of the latest competition under DTI’s Technology Programme, funding worth £17m over 3 years was announced for ‘bio-based industry products and processes’ and 'waste management and minimisation'.

New Core Research Facility in Biocatalysis, Biotransformations and Biocatalytic Manufacture.
A world-class Centre of Excellence in Biocatalysis, Biotransformations and Biocatalytic Manufacture (CoEBio3) is in the process of being set up.  The Core Research Facility will be based in the new University of Manchester Interdisciplinary Bioscience building, with important satellite laboratories being established in York and Scotland.
